Summer is approaching and we have regular trips planned.
Moonlight Paddles on the Quemahoning Reservoir. We typically meet around 7 PM at the Family Recreation area. Boats must be registered or have a launch permit. PFDs are mandatory and each boat should have a whistle and a light. We do provide chem lights but many people use battery powered LED lights. Bring snacks or food to share. We often paddle before sun set, snack, paddle again to watch the full moon rise, and then retire to the beach for a campfire. Full moon paddles will be on Friday June 9, Saturday July 8, and Sunday August 6.
Middle Yough trips are a great tradition of the Benscreek Canoe Club. This 9 mile section of the Youghiogheny River is Class 1+, clean and beautiful. Good for recreational kayaks, canoes and whitewater boats. This is a good trip for beginners to learn and practice moving water skills also for experienced paddlers to keep their skills sharp. Meet at RamCat Put-in at 10 AM to set shuttle. We put on around 11:30. Bring lunch for on the river. Boats do not need to be registered but PFDs are mandatory. Middle Yough Trips will be on Saturdays: June 17, July 15 and August 19.
Other trips will be announced as they are planned.
