Unique wooden canoe. It was made by Eagle Scouts in Johnstown circa 1955 out of orange crate lumber following a Popular Mechanics plan. Orange crates were made of pretty good wood in those days. I got it from the former scoutmaster. It is approximately 16′ long. The canvas has been replaced, waterproofed and painted. The canoe was thereafter used only once since on a successful test in the Que. Included but not shown in photos are wooden lattice that protects the interior, paddles, life vests. Price is $999. The canoe can be seen at my home in Johnstown. Phil Saylor
