Well we are still in the time of Covid. But things are beginning to look better as vaccines are showing up. And Time moves on.
We can still vote for “River of the Year” and the Loyalhanna is one of the candidates. This process is led by the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR). The winning river gets a $10,000 grant from DCNR and lots of publicity. Please vote for the Loyalhanna at the POWR website.
The Red Mo Race is on for this year. This race has been run every year (except last year) for 51 years. This is a great class II+ downriver race with lots of classes. This year, in order to be Covid safe: all registrations are online, masks must be worn before and after the race, spectators are discouraged, prizes and results will be mailed (no dinner or ceremony). But a great fun way to start the paddling season.
