Directions to meeting place: From Pittsburgh, take Route 30 east past Latrobe to the intersection of Rte. 217 (Kingston Dam) to the Municipal Water Authority Bldg., on the river right side. Call Jeff with questions.
Trip Description: How to organize a whitewater paddling trip, safety discussion, proper paddling gear, basic to intermediate whitewater instruction, ferrying, eddy turns, peel outs, and paddle strokes.
Experienced boaters, feel free to help with safety and encouragement for the new paddlers. If you have extra equipment, please bring it. Prepare for cold to warm weather. Clothing can be borrowed from experienced paddlers. If you don’t have proper clothing, Rocky Mountain Kayak has wet suits for rent, booties, farmer john, short sleeve paddle silk, and splash top for $10.

July and AugustAll water activities at the Whitewater Park at Greenhouse Park are suspended until the “2nd wave” has been altered to reduce risk. Greenhouse Park is still open to non-water based activities. As of right now, there is no swimming, boat launches or take-outs allowed at Greenhouse Park. MIddle Yough Trip on Sunday, July 22 and Sunday August 19. Full Moon Paddle on Quemahoning Reservoir on Sunday, August 26. Stonycreek Whitewater Release on July 28 & 29. Note: Quemahoning may have enough water for August releases. Keep watching here and pray for rain.
